Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the mass and weight resource rooms guidebook, which was created using active learning techniques, on the conceptual understanding and perceptions of seventh-grade students with special learning disabilities (SLD). The purpose of the associated research is to use the special case method to thoroughly explore the conceptual processes of each student with SLD. Within the scope of the study, each student was considered as a special case in itself. Four seventh-grade students with SLD form the study's sample. The data of the study were obtained through a conceptual understanding test consisting of open-ended questions and semi-structured interviews. The categories of full understanding, partial understanding, alternate understanding, and misunderstanding were employed in the analysis of the conceptual understanding test and interviews. The obtained data were subjected to content analysis. The study's findings showed that the guidebook had a positive effect on students with SLD' conceptual understanding. When the individual developments of the students were examined, it was seen that not every student could make progress in the full understanding category. This situation reveals the conclusion that each student with learning disability has unique needs in the learning process. It can be suggested to include different active learning techniques that can be used to support students' learning and meet their needs.
