Fen Bilimleri Öğretmenlerinin Bilimin Doğası ve Bilim Tarihine Yönelik Görüşleri

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the views of Science teachers regarding the nature of science and history of science. In the study, it was also found important to focus on the students' reactions to the history of science from the perspective of science teachers and their views on including the history of science in textbooks. The history of science should be included in the lessons, and the student should see how scientific knowledge progresses through the processes, and should grow up with the skills of a scientist. In this respect, it was found necessary to take the opinions of the teachers and make suggestions. In this direction, it is aimed to determine the views of science teachers on the nature of science and the history of science in this study. In the study, semi-structured interviews were conducted using the case study method. At the beginning of the spring term of 2019-2020, the views of 18 science teachers working in secondary schools of a province in the Black Sea Region on the definition of science and scientific knowledge, the nature of science and the history of science were taken. The data obtained from the study were analyzed with the help of the NVivo 9 program. As a result of the analysis of the data, 7 themes were reached. It has been observed that teachers have limited knowledge about the nature of science and generally have positive thoughts about the history of science. It can be said that some pre-service teachers have misconceptions about the nature of science. Teachers have a general idea about science and define scientific knowledge as knowledge that has been proven as a result of scientific studies. In-service training can be given to correct teachers' misconceptions about the nature of science and to ensure that they have knowledge about the nature of science. Narration can be enriched by using animations and videos for students to develop positive attitudes towards the history of science.Araştırmanın amacı fen bilimleri öğretmenlerinin bilimin doğası ve bilim ta- rihine yönelik görüşlerini belirlemektir. Çalışmada ayrıca fen bilimleri öğretmen- lerinin gözünden, öğrencilerin bilim tarihine yönelik tepkileri ve ders kitaplarında bilim tarihine yer verilmesine yönelik görüşleri üzerinde durulması önemli bulun- muştur. Bilim tarihine derslerde yer verilmeli ve öğrenci de bilimsel bilginin nasıl süreçlerden geçip nasıl ilerlediğini görmeli, kendi de bir bilim insanın sahip oldu- ğu becerilere sahip olarak yetişmelidir. Bu açıdan öğretmenlerin görüşleri alınıp önerilerde bulunması gerekli bulunmuştur. Bu doğrultuda çalışmada fen bilimleri öğretmenlerinin bilimin doğasına ve bilim tarihine ilişkin görüşlerinin belirlen- mesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada örnek olay yöntemi tercih edilerek yarı yapılan- dırılmış mülakatlar gerçekleştirilmiştir. 2019-2020 yılı bahar döneminin başında Karadeniz Bölgesi’nde yer alan bir ilin ortaokullarında görevini icra eden 18 fen bilimleri öğretmeninin bilim ve bilimsel bilginin tanımına, bilimin doğası ve bilim tarihe ilişkin görüşleri alınmıştır. Çalışmadan elde edilen veriler NVivo 9 progra- mı yardımı ile analiz edilmiştir. Verilerin analizi sonucunda 7 temaya ulaşılmıştır. Öğretmenlerin bilimin doğasına yönelik sınırlı bilgilere ve bilim tarihine yöne- lik genel olarak olumlu düşünceye sahip oldukları görülmüştür. Bazı öğretmen adaylarının bilimin doğasına yönelik kavram yanılgılarının olduğu söylenebilir. Öğretmenler bilim ile ilgili genel bir düşünceye sahiptirler ve bilimsel bilgiyi aha çok bilimsel çalışmalar sonucu ispatlanmış bilgiler şeklinde tanımlamışlardır. Öğ- retmenlerin bilimin doğasına yönelik kavram yanılgılarını düzeltmek ve bilimin doğasına yönelik bilgi sahibi olmalarını sağlamak için hizmet içi eğitim verilebilir. Öğrencilerin bilim tarihine olumlu tutum geliştirmeleri için de animasyonlar ve videolar kullanarak anlatım zenginleştirilebilir.
