Abstract
The body, which is at the center of art, has been transformed from past to present by factors such as sociological, political, belief and science. The representation of the body, which is positioned with its perfection in art, has left its place to the imperfect body, which is its opposite. This new representation in art is important in terms of saving the body, which is considered to be defective, from being the other. For this reason, it is thought that it will be useful to examine this newly integrated understanding in art. In this study, it is aimed to examine the imperfect body representation closely and with today's examples. In this descriptive study, in which the qualitative approach is adopted, up-to-date printed and electronic resources on the subject have been used. The works of Kiki Smith, Marc Quinn, Janine Antoni, Emma Hopkins, Virginia Bersabe and Magda Hueckel, who include representations of dead, sick and deformed bodies in their works and use different disciplines, materials and techniques, have been examined. It was concluded that the artists studied in the study included sick, incomplete and mortal body forms in their art, made peace with the invisible, covered-up weaknesses of the body and managed to make the imperfect visible in art.
