Abstract
The aim of this study is to examine the development of profession-specific creativity of preservice science teachers. 83 preservice science teachers studying in the third grade participated in this study, which was conducted with the longitudinal research method. Pre-service science teachers were asked to design four different worksheets in the fall semester of the 2019-2020 academic year. The mentioned worksheets are the tasks given to improve the life skills (analytical thinking, creative thinking, decision making, entrepreneurship, communication, teamwork) included in the secondary school science course curriculum. Preservice teachers developed the worksheets used as a data collection tool during the training for life skills. The worksheets have been accepted as the profession-specific products of the preservice science teachers. Parts of the worksheets (attracting attention, active engagement, assessment) were subjected to content analysis separately for originality, fluency, flexibility, and conceptual appropriateness. As a result of the research, it was determined that the profession-specific creativity of the preservice teachers developed. Another result of the research is that the flexibility and originality values of the preservice teachers obtained from the study leaves are lower than the fluency and conceptual appropriateness values. At the same time, it was determined that the third grade preservice science teacher had more problems in profession-specific creativity in the attracting attention and active occupation sections of the worksheets compared to the evaluation section. It is recommended that education politicians update the content of undergraduate courses in a way to improve the profession-specific creativity of preservice science teachers.
