Kariyer Müdahalesinin Lise Öğrencilerinin Kariyer Kararı Yetkinlik Beklentisi ve Kariyer Kaygısı Düzeylerine Etkisi

Abstract

Career decisions are among the decisions that are highly important in individuals' lives. One of the critical stages regarding career decisions is high school years. During high school years, individuals use individual/environmental resources and opportunities related to career development to collect information about themselves and their professions. Individuals whose knowledge and awareness about career increase their belief that they can fulfill the tasks related to their career development increases. The high importance of this process for individuals causes strong emotions such as anxiety to increase in individuals. In this context, the main purpose of the study is to reveal the effect of the psychoeducation program developed based on social cognitive career theory on the career decision making self-efficacy and career anxiety levels of high school students. In addition, since the psychometric properties of the short form of the career decision making self-efficacy scale were examined in the university sample, the psychometric properties on the high school sample were also examined within the scope of the study. The study was methodologically designed as a quasi-experimental design from experimental designs. First, the psychometric properties of the short form of the career decision making self-efficacy were tested with 320 high school students. As a result of the analyses, it was seen that the scale was valid and reliable for the Turkish high school sample. In this context, data were collected in the study with a personal information form, Career Decision Making Self-Efficacy Scale and Career Anxiety Scale. In order to determine the participants to take part in the pilot study phase of the study, the prepared scale set was applied to 332 students in the 10th grade of Anatolian high schools. Experimental and control groups consisting of 24 volunteer students who met the study conditions were formed. Necessary revisions were made after the pilot study. Then, in line with the data obtained from 423 students for the main study, experimental and control groups consisting of 22 volunteer students who met the study conditions were formed. A 10-session psychoeducation program was applied in both the pilot and main implementation of the study. In order to determine the permanence of the studies, one follow-up measurement was taken after the pilot application and two follow-up measurements were taken after the main application. According to the study results, it was determined that the psychoeducation program based on social cognitive career theory was effective in increasing the career decision making self-efficacy levels of high school students and decreasing their career anxiety levels. Follow-up studies conducted on the experimental and control groups showed that the effectiveness of the experimental study was permanent. The study results were discussed in line with the literature and suggestions were made in this context.Bireylerin hayatlarında önemi yüksek olan kararlar arasında kariyer kararları da yer almaktadır. Kariyer kararıyla ilgili kritik aşamalardan biri lise yıllarıdır. Lise yıllarında bireyler kariyer gelişimiyle ilgili bireysel/çevresel kaynakları ve fırsatları kullanarak hem kendileri hem de meslekler hakkında bilgiler toplarlar. Kariyerle ilgili bilgi ve farkındalığı artan bireylerin kariyer gelişimleriyle ilgili görevleri yerine getirebileceklerine yönelik inançları artar. Bu sürecin bireyler açısından öneminin yüksek olması bireylerde, kaygı gibi güçlü duyguların artmasına neden olur. Bu bağlamda çalışmanın temel amacı sosyal bilişsel kariyer kuramına dayalı geliştirilen psikoeğitim programının lise öğrencilerinin kariyer kararı yetkinlik beklentisi ve kariyer kaygısı düzeyleri üzerindeki etkisini ortaya koymaktır. Ayrıca kariyer kararı yetkinlik beklentisi ölçeği kısa formunun psikometrik özellikleri üniversite örnekleminde incelendiğinden çalışma kapsamında lise örneklemi üzerindeki psikometrik özellikleri de incelenmiştir. Çalışma yöntemsel olarak deneysel desenlerden yarı deneysel desen olarak tasarlanmıştır. Öncelikle kariyer kararı yetkinlik beklentisi kısa formunun psikometrik özellikleri 320 lise öğrencisi ile test edilmiştir. Analizler sonucunda ölçeğin Türk lise örneklemi için geçerli ve güvenilir olduğu görülmüştür. Bu doğrultuda çalışmada veriler kişisel bilgi formu, Kariyer Kararı Yetkinlik Beklentisi Ölçeği ve Kariyer Kaygısı Ölçeği ile toplanmıştır. Araştırmanın pilot çalışma aşamasında yer alacak katılımcıları belirlemek amacıyla Anadolu liselerinin 10. sınıfında bulunan 332 öğrenciye hazırlanan ölçek takımı uygulanmıştır. Çalışma şartlarını sağlayan gönüllü 24'er öğrenciden oluşan deney ve kontrol grupları oluşturulmuştur. Pilot çalışma sonrasında gerekli revizyonlar yapılmıştır. Ardından asıl çalışma için 423 öğrenciden alınan veriler doğrultusunda çalışma şartlarını sağlayan gönüllü 22'şer öğrenciden oluşan deney ve kontrol grupları oluşturulmuştur. Çalışmanın hem pilot hem de asıl uygulamasında 10 oturumluk psikoeğitim programı uygulanmıştır. Çalışmalarının kalıcılığını belirlemek amacıyla pilot uygulama sonrası bir, asıl uygulama sonrası iki izleme ölçümü alınmıştır. Çalışma sonuçlarına göre sosyal bilişsel kariyer kuramına dayalı psikoeğitim programının lise öğrencilerinin kariyer kararı yetkinlik beklentisi düzeylerini artırmada, kariyer kaygı düzeylerini azaltmada etkili olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Deney ve kontrol grubu üzerinde yapılan izleme çalışmaları deneysel çalışmanın etkililiğinin kalıcı olduğunu göstermiştir. Çalışma sonuçları literatür doğrultusunda tartışılmış ve bu bağlamda önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
