Abstract
During the modernization process in the Ottoman Empire, many reforms and reform movements took place in administrative, military, educational, social and economic fields. One of the reflections of the reforms in the field of education in the provinces was the establishment of Rushdiye Schools, which today provide education at the secondary school level. Following the Maârif Nizamnames published in 1869, new Rushdiye Schools were established all over the empire. One of these schools, Akçaâbad Rushdiye School, started education in 1892. The establishment and development of the Akçabaad Rushdiye School, the courses taught at the school, the quality and quantity of students and teachers, and the problems they faced are the main problematics of this study. The main purpose of the study is to determine how the educational practice in Akçaâbad Rushdiye School emerged and developed on the axis of these problematics. Since the study required a multifaceted research, the direct and indirect information about the school in archival documents, provincial and educational salnamas, regulations and instructions of the period were meticulously analysed and evaluated. In addition, the data obtained from the records kept in the education and training activities during the period examined were shown in various tables and graphs and compared with previous studies on the subject.
