Abstract
Çalışmadan elde edilen verilerin analizi sonucunda; sınıf seviyesi arttıkça bilimsel merak düzeyinin azaldığı, cinsiyetin bilimsel merakı etkilemediği, anne-baba eğitim düzeyinin bilimsel merakı etkilemediği, öğrencilerin kendilerine ait bilgisayarlarının olup olmamasının bilimsel merakı etkilemediği, öğrencilerin anaokuluna gidip gitmemelerinin bilimsel merakı etkilemediği, fen bilimlerine yönelik tutumun bilimsel merakı anlamlı şekilde etkilemediği, fen bilimleri dersinde yapılan etkinliklere yönelik tutumun bilimsel merakı anlamlı şekilde etkilemediği, fen bilimleri dersine çalışma süresinin bilimsel merakı etkilediği, fen bilimleri dersi başarı notunun bilimsel merakı etkilediği ve fen bilgisi dersini sevip sevmemenin bilimsel merakı etkilediği belirlenmiştir. Araştırma sonuçlarına dayalı olarak ortaokul öğrencilerinin bilimsel merak düzeylerinin öğretmenler tarafından yapılacak faaliyetlerle yükseltilebileceği ve sayede bilime yönelik tutumlarının arttırılabileceği önerilmektedir.
In this study, it was aimed to determine the level of scientific curiosity of the secondary school students and to examine the change of the level of scientific curiosity in terms of various variables through a scale developed by the researcher and whose validity and reliability was provided. In the study, Scientific Curiosity Scale was developed by the researcher at the first stage. The scale consists of two parts. In the first section, there are questions regarding the demographic characteristics of the students, while in the second section, there are 29 Likert-type items with five items for measuring scientific curiosity. The second tool used to collect data in the study is the Attitude Scale for Science and Technology. This scale, which is taken from the literature, contains 20 items of 3 Likert type. The research was carried out by the scanning method. In the study, the data were collected from a group of 200 (5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade) secondary school students. As a result of the analysis of the data it is obtained from the study that; as the grade level increases, the level of scientific curiosity decreases; gender, parental education level, whether students have computers, and whether students go to kindergarten do not affect scientific curiosity; attitude towards science does not significantly affect scientific curiosity; study time to science lesson, science lesson success grade and love of science lesson affect scientific curiosity. Based on the results of the research, it is suggested that the level of scientific curiosity of middle school students can be increased by the activities to be carried out by teachers and thus, their attitudes towards science can be increased.
