Abstract

Çevrimiçi öğrenme ortamları, eş zamanlı ve eş zamansız etkileşimlerle anlamlı öğrenme deneyimlerine olanak sunmaktadır. Alanyazına bakıldığında, çevrimiçi öğrenmenin eğitimin her kademesinde giderek yaygınlaştığı görülür. Bu kapsamda, çalışmada çevrimiçi öğrenme ortamında, katılımcılar için yapılandırılmış rollerle gerçekleştirilen tartışma etkinliklerinin sorgulama topluluğu (ST), sosyal buradalık bileşeni çerçevesinde etkisini değerlendirmek hedeflenmiştir. Çalışmada nitel yaklaşım benimsenmiştir. Araştırma, Halk Eğitim Merkezi'nde, Bilgisayar İşletmenliği kursuna devam eden, lisans mezunu 12 öğrenci ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Sekiz hafta boyunca sürdürülen tartışmalar, bilgisayar işletmenliği kurs programına yönelik mevcut programdan seçilen 'Bilişim Toplumunda Etik ve Güvenlik' konusu çerçevesinde Moodle uzaktan eğitim sisteminde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Tartışma panosunun analizi, görüşme soruları, katılımcı rol değerlendirme anketi ile elde edilen veriler incelenmiştir. Farklı rollere bürünen katılımcıların verilen rollerin gereğini yerine getirdikleri görülmüştür. Elde edilen veriler, yapılandırılmış rollerin sosyal buradalık üzerindeki olumlu etkisine işaret etmiştir. Katılımcılar, çevrimiçi tartışma ortamında etkileşimin sağlandığını ve yeni öğrenmelerin gerçekleştiğini bildirmiştir.
Online learning environments enable meaningful learning experiences with synchronous and asynchronous interactions. A review of the literature shows that online learning is becoming more prevalent at all levels of education. In this context, the impact of discussion activities conducted with structured roles for participants in the online learning environment will be evaluated in the context of the social presence component of the community of inquiry (CoI). A qualitative approach was adopted for the study. The study was conducted with 12 students taking the Computer Management course at the Public Education Center. The discussions, which spanned eight weeks, were conducted in the Moodle distance learning system in the context of the topic 'Ethics and Security in the Information Society,' which was selected from the current Computer Management course syllabus. Data obtained through the analysis of the discussion forum, interview questions, and participant role evaluation questionnaire were examined. It was found that the participants who took different roles fulfilled the requirements of the given roles. The data obtained indicated the positive impact of the structured roles on social presence. Participants reported that interaction and new learning occurred in the online discussion environment.
