Abstract
Kur'ân-ı Kerîm'in eğitim ve öğretimi, Hz. Muhammed'in (s.a.v.) vahyi tebliğiyle başlamış, sahâbe ve tâbiîn nesilleri vasıtasıyla sistemli bir şekilde sonraki asırlara aktarılmış ve günümüze kadar kesintisiz olarak devam etmiştir. İslâm'ın farklı coğrafyalara yayılmasıyla birlikte, Kur'an'ın doğru okunması ve muhafazası meselesi daha büyük bir önem kazanmış; Arapçayı ana dili olarak konuşmayan toplumların Müslüman olması, kıraat ilminin tedvinini ve eğitim metotlarının gelişmesini zorunlu hâle getirmiştir. Bu süreçte, Kur'an'ın farklı kıraat vecihleriyle okunmasına verilen ruhsat, sahâbîler vasıtasıyla çeşitli beldelere taşınmış; Mushaf'ın Hz.
The education and teaching of the Holy Quran began with the revelation of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), was systematically transmitted to subsequent centuries through the generations of the Companions and the Tabi'in (followers of the Companions), and has continued uninterrupted to this day. With the spread of Islam to different geographical regions, the issue of the correct reading and preservation of the Quran gained even greater importance. The conversion of societies that did not speak Arabic as their native language to Islam made the codification of the science of recitation and the development of teaching methods necessary. During this process, the permission to read the Quran in different recitation styles was carried to various regions through the Companions; and unity and integrity were ensured with the compilation and copying of the Mushaf (Quran) during the reigns of Abu Bakr and Uthman. In later periods, the use of punctuation and vowel markings facilitated Quranic education. After the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye, scholars of qira'at who served in the field of the Qur'an and qira'at played an important role in sustaining this tradition through their scholarly contributions and the students they trained. Within this continuity, one of the prominent figures is Sheikh al-Qurra Hüseyin Harputoğlu. This study focuses on the life, scholarly personality, and educational methodology of Hüseyin Harputoğlu, who served for many years in the field of Qur'an and qira'at studies. In the first part of the research, his life and scholarly journey are examined, while the second part evaluates the methods, approaches, and pedagogical principles he adopted in Qur'an and qira'at education. A qualitative research method was employed in the study, based on interviews, memoirs and written sources. The research revealed that Hüseyin Harputoğlu trained numerous students in the field of Quranic recitation (qira'at), adhering to traditional methods while adapting them to contemporary disciplines. His scholarly rigor, meticulous teaching methods, and ethical stance served as an example to both his students and the academic circles he belonged to. This study aims to make a modest contribution to the recent history of qira'at education in Türkiye by presenting Harputoğlu's contributions to the science of qira'at.
