Abstract
In the study, the relationship between inflation and Exchange rate has been investigated by using Engle and Granger (1987) and Engle and Yoon (2002) hidden cointegration tests for the period of 2006:01-2019:02 in Turkey. The results of Engle and Granger (1987) cointegration tests indicate that there is not a relation between inflation and exchange rate in the long run. On the other hand according to the results of Granger and Yoon (2002) hidden cointegration test there is a cointegration relation between positive components of inflation and exchange rate. An increase of positive shocks in exchange rate increases inflation rate. The significance of this empirical results is that policy makers can struggle with inflation if shocks that do not arise from market conditions in exchange rates can be controlled.
