Abstract
Bu çalışmanın amacı, finansal bilgi kalitesi ile bankacılık sektörü muhasebe politikalarının ekonomik büyüme üzerindeki etkisi çerçevesinde, Türkiye’de bankacılık sektöründe düzenlenen mali tablolarda bilgi manipülasyonunun olup olmadığını araştırmaktır. Araştırmada, sektörün gayrisafi yurtiçi hasılası, krediler ve kredi zarar karşılıkları verileri 2003:Q1-2020:Q4 zaman serisinde ARDL yöntemi ile analiz edilmiştir. Ayrıca, Borsa İstanbul Banka Endeksi’ndeki işletmelerin 2019-2020 finansal tablolarına ait denetim raporları içerik analizine tabi tutulmuştur. Bulgular, beklenen kredi zarar karşılıklarının kredi hacmini negatif, büyüme tutarının ise pozitif yönde etkilediği ve BDDK’nın 2020 yılında kredi risk sınıflandırmasında müsaade ettiği değişiklikler sonucunda, sektör şirketlerinin kredi grupları arası yaptıkları değişikliklerin kar/zarar etkisine, denetim raporlarında yer verilmediği yönündedir.
The aim of this study is to investigate whether there is manipulation in the financial reports of the Turkish financial sector firms. First, the growth in the sector GDP, loans, and loan loss provisions during 2003:Q1-2020:Q4 are analyzed by ARDL method. Further, content analysis is used to examine loans and loss provisions in the 2019-2020 audit reports of sector firms. The findings indicate that loan volume has a negative, and sector growth a positive effect on loss provisions. We also find that the profit/loss effect of the changes between loan group classifications, allowed by the BDDK in 2020, is not disclosed in audit reports.
