Abstract
Araştırma verileri tanısı bulunan öğrencilere uygulanan Gözlerden Zihin Okuma Testi, I. Düzey Yanlış İnanç Sally Anne testi, II. Düzey Yanlış İnanç Çikolata Testi, Çocuk ve Ergenler İçin Empati Ölçeği ve Peabody Testi ile toplanmıştır. Araştırma verileri SPSS/WINDOWS 26.0 paket programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Uygulama öncesi ön test puanlarının değişmezliğini hesaplamak için SPSS/EXPLORE kullanılmıştır. Veriler ön test son test deney-kontrol grubu karşılaştırmalarında örneklem büyüklüğü dikkate alınarak Mann Withney U testi ile analiz edilmiştir. Aynı gruplardan gelen ön test son test karşılaştırmaları için Wilcoxon İşaretli Sıralar Testi kullanılmıştır. Uygulama öncesi hesaplanan puanlarda hipotez varsayımı için grup eşitlikleri karşılaştırmalı sınanmış ve p<.05 düzeyinde eşitlik test edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda YİO çocukların yapılandırılmış oyun terapisi eşliğinde sosyal öykülerin empatik becerileri geliştirebileceği bulunmuştur.
The aim of this study is to examine the development of empathic skills and perception through play therapy in high-functioning autistic children. There is a limited number of studies that investigate empathic skills and perception development in high-functioning autistic children through play therapy. In this study, the social story method was applied alongside play therapy. A quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test experimental and control groups was used. The study group consisted of 12 students living in Trabzon, enrolled in a public school and also attending a private counseling center, whose families volunteered to participate. The participants, aged 8-14, were selected based on a doctor's diagnosis and an educational report from the Special Education Evaluation Board. The study was conducted by dividing the participants into an experimental group (6) and a control group (6). Data were collected using the Reading the Mind in the Eyes Test, the First and Second Order False Belief Tests (Sally-Anne and Chocolate Tests), the Empathy Scale for Children and Adolescents, and the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test. Data were analyzed using the SPSS/WINDOWS 26.0 software package. To assess the invariability of pre-test scores before the application, SPSS/EXPLORE was used. Mann-Whitney U test was employed for pre-test post-test comparisons between experimental and control groups, considering the sample size. For pre-test post-test comparisons within the same groups, the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test was used. Group equivalencies were comparatively tested at the p<.05 level for the hypothesis assumption in the scores calculated before the application. The study found that the use of structured play therapy with social stories could enhance the empathic skills of high-functioning autistic children.
