Abstract
The aim of this study is to examine the physiological effects of small field games played with rules according to field size. The study was carried out with the voluntary participation of 10 male football players in the U16-17 age group (mean age: 16,59±0,51 years) who play licensed football in the groundwork of Trabzonspor club. Football players regularly train 5 days a week. To ensure the homogeneity of the research group, general health status, physiological characteristics, technical skill levels, game information, playing positions and training histories were taken into consideration in the selection of football players. After measuring the body weight and height of the football players in the study; heart rate, running distances and running speeds during small field games (small field with rules, large field with rules, free small field, and free large field) were examined with GPS team pro polar (10Hz). The technical actions of the football players during the small field games (accurate pass, miss pass, ball win, ball handling) were recorded and analyzed with the drone (DJI Mavic pro-4). Also, immediately after the games, the degree of difficulty of the football players during small field games was determined using the Borg method. Research data were analyzed using SPSS 23 statistical program. All obtained data were subjected to descriptive statistics and mean, standard deviation, minimum and maximum values were calculated. The differences between the physical and physiological performances of football players during small field games were examined by comparison tests. The results obtained from the research show that the average and maximum heart rate, total distance covered, average and maximum running speed, perceived difficulty degree, accurate pass, miss pass, ball winning and ball handling performances of football players during small field games can manipulated by the interventions to the games. As a result, changes in the rules or changes in field sizes in small field games in football may affect the physiological characteristics of the athletes. The results obtained will contribute to the sports stakeholders in meeting the physiological demands of the athletes, which are very important for football, and will shed light on further studies in this field.
