Batı Düşünce Tarihinde Antidemokratik Düşünürler

Abstract

Demokrasi kavramı ortaya çıktığı günden günümüze kadar çeşitli yönlerden eleştirilmiştir. Son yıllarda da zaman zaman demokrasiye yönelik olumsuz eleştirilerin yapıldığı görülmektedir. Bu sebeple demokrasinin tarihsel süreç içerisinde ne gibi eleştirilere maruz kaldığının detaylı bir biçimde incelenmesi, bu eleştirilerin günümüzde bir karşılığının olup olmadığı konusu üzerinde fikir oluşturulması ihtiyacı doğmuştur. Bu ihtiyacın giderilmesi ve demokrasiye yönelik olumsuz yorumlar çerçevesinde bir sonuca varılması amacıyla böyle bir çalışma yapılmıştır. Siyasal düşünceler tarihi içindeki düşünürlerin demokrasiyi nasıl ve ne sebeplerle eleştirdikleri konusu ile birlikte bu eleştiriler üzerinden tespitler ve yorumlamalar yapmak da tezin kapsamındadır. Bu amaçla Antik Yunan döneminden itibaren siyasal düşünceler tarihinde yer alan antidemokratik düşünürlerin fikirleri ve antidemokratik düşünür olarak adlandırılamasa da demokrasi karşıtı bazı düşünceler taşıyan düşünürler incelenerek yorumlanmıştır. Tezde ele alınan düşünürlerin hayatlarına ve yaşadıkları dönemlerin özelliklerine de tez kapsamında gerektiği ölçüde değinilmiştir.The concept of democracy has been criticized from various aspects from the day it emerged until today. In recent years, negative criticism of democracy has been made from time to time. For this reason, it is necessary to examine in detail what kind of criticism democracy has been subjected to in the historical process and to form an opinion on whether these criticisms have a counterpart today. This study was conducted in order to fulfill this need and to reach a conclusion within the framework of negative comments on democracy. How and for what reasons thinkers in the history of political thought criticize democracy, as well as making determinations and interpretations based on these criticisms are also within the scope of the thesis. For this purpose, the ideas of antidemocratic thinkers in the history of political thought since the Ancient Greek period and some thinkers with anti-democratic ideas, although they cannot be called antidemocratic thinkers, have been analyzed and interpreted. The lives of the thinkers discussed in the thesis and the characteristics of the periods in which they lived were also touched upon to the extent necessary within the scope of the thesis.
