Abstract
Günlük hayatın her alanında karşımıza çıkan veri bolluğu, istatistik eğitiminin önemini artırmış ve bu bağlamda yapılan araştırmalar, öğretmenlerin eğitim sürecindeki rol ve yeterliliklerine odaklanmıştır. Bu çalışmada ortaokul matematik öğretmenlerinin veri işleme öğrenme alanına yönelik yazılı sınav sorularının, GAISE çerçevesinde yer alan gelişimsel seviyeler (A, B, C seviyeleri), istatistiksel süreç aşamaları ve SOLO taksonomisi boyutları kapsamında incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında ortaokul matematik öğretmenlerinin veri işleme öğrenme alanına yönelik hazırladıkları yazılı sınav soruları analiz edilmiştir. Öğretmenlerin istatistik öğretme bilgilerini geliştirmeye yönelik bir eğitim programının yazılı sınav soruları üzerine yansımalarının incelenmesini hedefleyen bu araştırmada betimsel yaklaşım kullanılmıştır. Çalışma; proje kapsamında eğitim programına katılan öğretmenlerin eğitim programı öncesi ve sonrası, katılan/katılmayan öğretmenlerin yazılı sınav sorularının karşılaştırılması amaçlandığından 9 deney, 6 kontrol grubu olmak üzere farklı başarı düzeyinde (yüksek-orta-düşük) ortaokullarda görev yapan 15 matematik öğretmeni ile yürütülmüştür. Araştırmanın verilerini ortaokul matematik öğretmenlerinin hazırladıkları yazılı sınav soruları ve öğretmenlerle yapılan mülakatlar oluşturmuştur. Analizler Guidelines for Assessment and Instruction in Statistics Education (GAISE) çerçevesinde yer alan gelişimsel seviyeler (A, B, C seviyeleri), istatistiksel süreç aşamaları ve Structure of the Observed Learning Outcome (SOLO) taksonomisi boyutlarında hazırlanan göstergeler kapsamında kodlanmış, verilerin analizinde nicel yaklaşımlar kullanılmış, nicel sonuçlar nitel yaklaşımlarla desteklenmiştir.
The abundance of data that we encounter in every aspect of daily life has increased the importance of statistics education and the research conducted in this context has focused on the role and competence of teachers in the education process. This study aims to examine the written exam questions of secondary school mathematics teachers regarding the data processing learning area within the scope of developmental levels (A, B, C levels), statistical process stages and SOLO taxonomy dimensions included in the GAISE framework. Within the scope of the research, written exam questions prepared by middle school mathematics teachers for the data processing learning area were analyzed. A descriptive approach was used in this research, which aimed to examine the reflections of a training program aimed at improving teachers' knowledge of teaching statistics on written exam questions. Since the study aimed to compare the written exam questions of teachers who participated in the training program before and after the training program and those of teachers who did not participate/participated, it was conducted with 15 mathematics teachers working in middle schools with different success levels (high-medium-low) in 9 experimental and 6 control groups. The data of the research consisted of written exam questions prepared by middle school mathematics teachers and interviews conducted with teachers. The analyses were coded within the scope of the developmental levels (A, B, C levels), statistical process stages and indicators prepared in the dimensions of the SOLO taxonomy within the GAISE framework, quantitative approaches were used in the analysis of the data, and quantitative results were supported by qualitative approaches. The findings of the study revealed that the training program aimed at improving teachers' knowledge of teaching statistics had positive effects on the written exam questions they prepared. Teachers who participated in the training program included questions about higher-level skills more frequently in the second written exam they prepared after the training program. However, in the statistical analyses conducted for GAISE levels and SOLO taxonomy, it was observed that these differences between the first and second exams of the experimental group teachers were statistically significant. Teachers who participated in the training program prepared questions about higher-level skills compared to teachers who did not participate. Moreover, in the statistical analyses conducted, these differences between the experimental and control groups did not constitute a statistically significant difference. In line with the positive changes in the questions of teachers who participated in the training program, it is recommended that training programs be organized to support the professional development of teachers and improve their teaching processes.
