Abstract
Writing autonomy includes managing the process with the responsibility of writing, determining appropriate methods and techniques, and developing and organizing strategies. With this aspect, it facilitates reaching the basic goals of writing education by supporting the development and habit of writing. The aim of this research is to develop a valid and reliable Writing Autonomy Perception Scale for students aged 9-15. In this research, a cross-sectional survey model, one of the quantitative methods, was used. The population of this research consists of students between the ages of 9-15 who receive secondary education in Turkey. Accessibility was taken as a basis and students between the ages of 9-15 studying at public secondary schools in the city center of Elazig were determined as the sub-population. Five different samples were created from the sub-population for face validity, EFA, CFA, test-retest, and equivalent form applications with a two-stage cluster sampling method. In this context, a total of 1140 students were reached with non- intersecting sample groups. The surface and content validity of the draft items were provided. As a result of EFA, a scale structure consisting of 10 items and the components was obtained in 5-point liker type with a variance explained over 30%. RMSA as a result of DFA. 038, Standardized RMR. 039 was calculated as AGFI .96, NNFI .97, GFI .97, CFI .98, NFI .94 and model fit was verified. Cronbach's alpha coefficient was found to be .79, Spearman-Brown and Guttman Split-half reliability coefficients were found to be quite reliable at .80. The stability coefficient of the scale was found to be .77 and the parallel forms reliability was found to be .80.
