Abstract

Öz: Bu çalışma; kütüphane katalog kayıtlarında ve bazı akademik çalışmalarda Hüseyin Lâmekânî (ö. 1035/1625), Aziz Mahmud Hüdâyî (ö. 1038/1628), Ümmî Sinanzâde Ced Hasan Efendi (ö. 1088/1677) ve Yâkub Halvetî (ö. 1051/1642) gibi meşhur sûfîlere nispet edilen ve farklı kütüphanelerde yedi ayrı nüshası tespit edilen bir “etvâr risâlesinin” asıl müellifinin kim olduğunu konu edinmiştir. İnsanın; Hakk’a vâsıl/insân-ı kâmil olması sürecinde aşması gereken yedi mertebe anlamına gelen etvâr-ı seb‘a kavramı/usûlü etrafında özellikle XVI. ve XVII. yüzyıl Osmanlı coğrafyasında pek çok risâle telif edilmiştir.
Abstract: This study is about the real author of an atwār treatise, which is attributed to important sufis such as Hüseyin Lāmekānī (d. 1035/1625), Aziz Mahmud Hudāyī (d. 1038/1628), Ummī Sinanzāde Ced Hasan Afandi (d. 1088/1677) and Yāqub Khalwatī (d. 1051/1642) in catalog records and seven different copies of which have been identified in different libraries. Many treatises, especially in the Ottoman geography of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, were written around the concept/procedure of atwār-i sab‘a, which means the seven stages that a human being must pass through in the process of reaching Allah. Modern studies have generally analysed the atwār-i sab‘a and its literature in the context of the sufi transformation of the self and made some comments on the sufi personalities of the authors. However, studies that focus on this particular treatise are largely unaware of the existence of multiple copies found in different manuscript libraries and the fact that these identical texts are catalogued under four different authors’ names. Consequently, there is no awareness of the real author of the treatise in these studies. This situation necessitates an evaluation of the true authorship of the treatise, which exists in seven different manuscript copies across various libraries and is attributed to four different authors in those copies. In this study, the manuscript copies of the treatise were first identified through catalog research. By analysing the four mentioned Sufi authors' mentality of seyruslūk, their sufi personalities and their writings through biographical and comparative document analysis, the possibility of their having written the aforementioned atwâr treatise is questioned. Since the content of this treatise has been analysed in other studies, there is no need to translate it. However, some explanations have been made regarding the basic systematics of the treatise in order to compare it with the Sufi understanding of the authors to whom it is attributed. In addition, the relations between the sufi tarīqas and branches of which these four authors, whose death dates are close to each other, belonged to during the period in question, are discussed as the secondary problem of the article, and the problem of the relation and circulation of the treatise is questioned within this habitat. As a result, it was concluded that the treatise, of which we could not find the author's copy, was most probably written by Hudāyī, but it was also a travelling etwār text and was practised by disciples of different orders.
