Abstract

In this research, which was designed as a qualitative study with a descriptive approach, "How is the relationship between worship and Mass which is one of the choral music genres in the Christian tradition and what is the structure of Mass?" search for an answer to the question. While examining the worship in the church, the Order of Catholic Holy Mass book was used and 7 missa were determined and examined by the typical case sampling method, which is one of the non-probabilistic sampling methods. While collecting the data, a literature review was made. While analyzing the data, document analysis was used by using techniques such as description, explanation and association. In order to better understand the structure of missa, the durations of the sections were determined, calculated and interpreted using the selected audio recordings. While interpreting, the parts of the Holy Mass and Mass (musical) were associated and explained. In the light of the findings, the following conclusions were reached: The parts of K & yacute;rie, Gl & oacute;ria, Credo, Sanctus-Bened & iacute;ctus and Agnus Dei in the Holy Mass constitute the parts of Mass (musical). It is observed that the Mass composed of huge amount of the musical parts of the Holy Mass. In the Middle Ages and Renaissance, Mass was sung by only choir. With the Baroque period, orchestra and soloists was included in choir. 27.72% of the text used is reserved for Gl & oacute;ria, 53.80% for Credo. In the calculation, the golden ratio corresponds to Credo in 5 of 7 works and Gl & oacute;ria in 2 of them. The Credo and Gl & oacute;ria sections are the sections with the most temporal weight in the missa. This may be due not only to the fact that there are more words in these sections than in the other sections, but also to the fact that the text contains themes of faith and praise.
