The Evaluation of the Effect of the Web 2.0 Tools to Life Skills Development in the Light-Substance Interaction Unit

Abstract

The aim of this study is the 'effect evaluation of the Web 2.0 supported teaching in Light-Substance interaction unit to students' academic successes, attitudes and life skills.' The research group is formed by 10 7th grade students of a secondary school that belongs to Tutak district of Ağrı in 2023-2024 academic year. In this study; Light-Substance Interaction unit academic success tests, life skills observation form, Science lesson attitude scale, Science lesson Web 2.0 attitude scale, life skills scale, researcher journal and semi-structured interviews are used as the data collection tool. The quantitative datas that are required in the study are subjected to content analysis in SPSS 22.0. The qualitative datas are also subjected to content analysis. As a result of this research, it is determined that the usage of Web 2.0 tools in science lesson brings positive results in students' academic success, helps students to have a positive attitude towards Web 2.0 tools and makes a positive contribution to students' life skill development. The study of broader student groups and the evaluation of the usage of Web 2.0 tools with different factors as gender, topic field and class level are going to give more contributions to the field. Moreover, the determination of application tools that are surveyed in the students about life skills are going to intensify the interpretation of acquired results about students.Çalışmanın amacı, 'Işığın Madde ile Etkileşimi' ünitesinin Web 2.0 destekli öğretiminin öğrencilerin akademik başarılarına, tutumlarına ve yaşam becerilerine etkisinin değerlendirilmesidir''. Araştırma grubunu 2023- 2024 eğitim öğretim yılında Ağrı'nın Tutak ilçesinde yer alan bir ortaokulda öğrenim gören 10 tane yedinci sınıf öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmada veri toplama aracı olarak; ışığın madde ile etkileşimi ünitesi akademik başarı testi, yaşam becerileri gözlem formu, fen bilimleri dersi tutum ölçeği, fen bilimleri dersi Web 2.0 tutum ölçeği, yaşam becerileri ölçeği, araştırmacı günlüğü ve yarı yapılandırılmış mülakatlar kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada elde edilen nicel veriler SPSS 22.0'da ve nitel veriler içerik analizine tabi tutulmuştur. Araştırma sonucunda, fen bilimleri dersinde Web 2.0 araçlarının kullanılmasının öğrencilerin akademik başarılarını arttırdığı, Web 2.0 araçlarına yönelik olumlu tutum geliştirmelerine ve yaşam becerilerinin gelişimine olumlu katkılar yaptığı belirlenmiştir. Daha geniş öğrenci grupları ile çalışılması ve Web 2.0 araçlarının kullanımının cinsiyet, konu alanı, sınıf düzeyi gibi farklı değişkenlere yönelik değerlendirilmesi alana daha fazla katkılar sağlayacaktır. Ayrıca öğrencilerde tespit edilecek olan yaşam becerilerine yönelik uygulama araçlarının belirlenmesi elde edilen sonuçların öğrenciler açısından yordanmasını güçlendirecektir.
