Abstract

Bununla birlikte Fârâbî mezkûr çalışmasında Aristoteles'in sofistik sanata dair eserinde yer verdiği her konuya temas etmemiş, bazı konuları farklı çalışmalarında ele almıştır. İşte bu çalışma Fârâbî'nin farklı eserlerinde sofistik sanata dair temaslarını bütüncül bir halde sunmayı ve Kitâbu'l-Emkinet'il-Mugallita'dan hareketle sofistik sanatın öncüllerini tanıtmayı hedeflemektedir.
The term sophist, which originally meant wise, evolved into a negative meaning as a result of the struggles of Socrates and Plato with the Sophists, and it was stated that they were not really wises, and they apparently deceived and trapped the youths of Athens with their pseudo-wisdom. While Socrates expressed this art performed by the sophists as 'puns', Plato called this art 'sophisticated art' in his works, in comparison to those who practise it. While these works of Plato were in dialogue form, Aristotle reformulated it as a scientific text in the context of the art of logic, and also determined the universal rules of sophistical art. The Islamic world has experienced these works through translation movements. al-Farabi was one of the first thinkers of the period to take an interest in these works translated into Arabic. al-Farabi reconstructed sophistical art in Arabic based on the Arabic translation of Aristotle's work in which he determined the universal rules of this art. Inspired by Aristotle, al-Farabi examined how sophists ambush their interlocutors and try to deceive them with reasoning in detail in his book Kitab al-Amkine al-Mugallita and he made additions to the sophistic reasoning that Aristotle numbered. However, in his work, al-Farabi did not touch on every subject that Aristotle included in his work on sophistical art, and he dealt with some issues in his different works. Here, this study aims to present al-Farabi's contacts on sophistical art in his different works in a holistic manner and to introduce the premises of sophistical art based on Kitab al-Amkine al-Mugallita.
