Abstract
With the rapid spread of digitalization into all areas of life, individuals are increasingly exposed to digital demands, constant online presence pressure, and intensive notification flows. This situation leads to an increase in digital stress and digital burnout levels and creates negative effects on psychological well-being. Digital stress is often addressed together with burnout symptoms such as emotional exhaustion, loss of motivation, and cognitive overload; however, individuals' coping skills can significantly shape the outcomes of this process. Accordingly, the main purpose of this study is to examine the relationships between individuals' levels of digital stress, digital burnout, and coping skills. In this context, the predictive role of digital stress on burnout and the contribution of coping skills within this relationship were evaluated through regression analyses. Designed in accordance with the correlational research model, the study sample was selected using convenience sampling (N = 338; Female = 223, Male = 115). Data were collected online using the Personal Information Form, the Multidimensional Digital Stress Scale, the Digital Burnout Scale, and the Brief Form of the Coping Styles Scale (CSS-BF). SPSS 26.0 statistical software was used for data analysis. Descriptive statistics, Pearson product–moment correlation, multiple regression analysis, independent samples t-test, and ANOVA were conducted. The findings revealed a significant positive relationship between digital stress levels and digital burnout scores. In addition, digital stress, denial, and behavioral disengagement were found to significantly predict digital burnout. Furthermore, significant differences were identified between female and male students in some dimensions of digital stress, digital burnout, and coping styles. Significant differences were also observed across class levels for certain variables. Overall, this study addresses the psychological consequences of the digitalization process from a multidimensional perspective and explains the interaction between digital stress, burnout, and coping skills. The results highlight the need for digital stress management, the development of digital awareness programs, and the implementation of practices that support students' psychological resilience, particularly in educational settings.
