Abstract
Bu çalışma, Zeydî tefsir geleneğinin önemli temsilcilerinden Bedreddin el-Hûsî’nin et-Teysîr fî’t-Tefsîr adlı eserinde Ehl-i beyt anlayışını incelemektedir. Bu durum, Zeydî müfessirlerin Ehl-i beyt kavramını nasıl tanımladıklarını, Ehl-i beyt’in kapsamına kimleri dâhil ettiklerini ve söz konusu yaklaşımın tefsir geleneği içerisindeki yerinin nasıl konumlandırılması gerektiği sorusunu önemli hale getirmektedir. Zeydî tefsir literatürü üzerine yapılan çalışmaların sınırlı olması ve et-Teysîr fî’t-Tefsîr adlı eserin Ehl-i beyt merkezli yorumlarının ayrıntılı biçimde incelenmemiş olması, araştırmayı literatür açısından önemli hâle getirmektedir. Araştırma sonucunda Hûsî’nin Ehl-i beyt kavramını Hz. Peygamber, Hz.
This study examines the understanding of Ahl al-Bayt in al-Taysīr fī al-Tafsīr, a work by Badr al-Dīn al-Ḥūthī, one of the important representatives of the Zaydī exegetical tradition. Although Zaydism is considered a sect within Shīʿī thought, it is regarded as closer to the Sunnī tradition in terms of some theological and legal views, while sharing common ground with Shīʿī thought on issues such as Ahl al-Bayt and imamate. This situation makes it an important research topic to determine how Zaydī exegetes define the concept of Ahl al-Bayt, whom they include within its scope, and how this approach should be positioned within the exegetical tradition. The main problem of this study is to reveal how Badr al-Dīn al-Ḥūthī interprets the concept and scope of Ahl al-Bayt in al-Taysīr fī al-Tafsīr, within the framework of which Qur’anic verses and narrations, and to determine the place of this interpretation within the Sunnī and Shīʿī exegetical traditions. The aim of the study is to analyze al-Ḥūthī’s understanding of Ahl al-Bayt within the framework of the verses of tathīr (al-Aḥzāb 33/33), mawaddah (al-Shūrā 42/23), and mubāhala (Āl ʿImrān 3/61), to evaluate the author’s interpretations comparatively, and to assess the Zaydī exegetical approach to this issue. A qualitative research method has been adopted in this study. In this context, the author’s life, scholarly personality, and exegetical method are first briefly examined, and then the main Qur’anic verses related to the concept of Ahl al-Bayt are analyzed in detail. The narrations, linguistic explanations, and theological evaluations used by al-Ḥūthī in interpreting these verses are examined, and his interpretations are comparatively evaluated with the views of leading Sunnī and Shīʿī exegetes. The study is significant in that it addresses the understanding of Ahl al-Bayt of Badr al-Dīn al-Ḥūthī, one of the contemporary and important representatives of the modern Zaydī exegetical tradition, and evaluates this approach within the context of Sunnī and Shīʿī exegetical traditions. The limited number of studies on Zaydī tafsīr literature and the lack of detailed examination of the Ahl al-Bayt-centered interpretations in al-Taysīr fī al-Tafsīr make this research significant in terms of the existing literature. The findings of the study show that al-Ḥūthī limits the concept of Ahl al-Bayt to the Prophet Muhammad, ʿAlī, Fāṭima, Ḥasan, and Ḥusayn; emphasizes in the verse of tathīr (al-Aḥzāb 33/33) that Ahl al-Bayt constitute a distinguished group; evaluates the love of Ahl al-Bayt as a religious responsibility in the verse of mawaddah (al-Shūrā 42/23); and considers them as the closest individuals to the Prophet in the verse of mubāhala (Āl ʿImrān 3/61). These findings indicate that al-Ḥūthī’s interpretations largely parallel the Shīʿī exegetical tradition while also reflecting the interpretive framework of Zaydī thought. Thus, the study contributes to a better understanding of exegetical differences among Islamic sects. The results demonstrate that al-Taysīr fī al-Tafsīr represents an important example of an Ahl al-Bayt-centered exegetical approach in modern Zaydī thought. In this respect, the study provides new insights into both Zaydī tafsīr literature and discussions on Ahl al-Bayt and aims to contribute methodologically to future comparative tafsīr studies.
