Cumhuriyet Devri Türkiyesi’nde Muâviye b. Ebî Süfyan Etrafındaki Tartışmalar

Abstract

Discussions around Mu‘awiya emerged on a political basis in the first period of the Abbasids. The discussion ground, which could be interpreted as the sup-port of the Umayyad and Abbasid at the beginning, has become the main subject of religious conflict between Ahl al-ha-dith and Shiite groups in the process. This discussion, which has expanded in places around the phenomenon of com-panions (sahaba), has continued for centuries and has been reflected in many works of different types. The dis-cussions around Mu‘awiya, which con-tinued until recent times with occasio-nal weakening, became one of the im-portant issues of various publications in Turkey in the 1940s. It is possible to see these discussions, which are carried on through sermon pulpit, newspapers, magazines, epistles, and books with harsh criticism and heavy accusations, as a continuation of the content in clas-sical sources. These discussions, which continued for a long time with the par-ticipation of a large audience, although they were generally held around the phenomenon of Mu‘awiya and the companions, undoubtedly include other issues as well. This study aims to mirror the understanding of religion, politics, and history of the period through the Turkish press of the 1940s and after, in which the discussions around Mu‘awiya.Muâviye b. Ebî Süfyân etrafındaki tartışmalar Abbâsîlerin ilk döne-minde politik bir zeminde alevlen-miştir. Başlangıçta Emevî ve Abbâsî taraftarlığı olarak yorumlanabilecek tartışma zemini, zamanla Ehl-i hadis ile Şiî grupların dini nitelikli başlıca çekişme konusu haline gelmiştir. Sa-habe olgusu etrafında yer yer zemini genişleyen bu tartışma, asırlarca de-vam etmiş ve farklı nitelikteki pek çok eserin içeriğine yansımıştır. Ara ara gevşemekle birlikte son dönem-lere kadar devam eden Muâviye b. Ebî Süfyân etrafındaki tartışmalar, 1940’lar Türkiyesi’nde de çeşitli nite-likteki neşriyatın önemli konuların-dan biri olmuştur. Karşılıklı sert eleştiriler ve ağır ithamlarla vaaz kürsüleri, gazete, dergi, risale ve ki-taplar üzerinden sürdürülen bu tar-tışmaları, klasik kaynaklardaki içeri-ğin bir devamı olarak görmek müm-kündür. Geniş bir kitlenin katılı-mıyla uzunca bir süre devam eden bu tartışmalar, her ne kadar genelde Muâviye b. Ebî Süfyân ve sahabe olgusu etrafında yapılmışsa da hiç şüphesiz başka hususlar da içermektedir. Bu çalışma, odağında Muâviye etrafındaki tartışmalarının yer aldığı 1940’lı yıllar ve sonrası Türk matbuatı üzerinden devrin din, siyaset ve tarih anlayışına ayna tutmayı amaçlamaktadır.
